VMware vSphere
By turning a physical server into virtual machines, virtualization simplifies the datacenter management and reduces costs. VMware vSphere is a suite of virtualization software solutions capable of providing enough core and memory capacity. vSphere solutions, such as ESXi, vCenter Server, consist of dual CPU, multiple DIMM-servers, running on both Intel XEON Scaleable and AMD EPYC. Based on the need for scalability in the datacenter environment, VMware offers several packaging options.
For simple environments with 3 or less physical server hosts and maximum 2 CPU per host, consider the all-in-one solution vSphere Essentials Kits or vSphere Essentials Plus. Each of these kits consist of six processor licenses for vSphere and a license for one instance of vCenter Server for Essentials™
In more complex environments requiring unlimited server hosts and CPUs, VMware vSphere Standard Edition™ or vSphere Enterprise Plus would be the recommended platform. For basic server consolidations consider the entry-level vSphere Standard, as it reduces cost of hardware and accelerates application deployment. If the plan is to run clusters and transform the datacenter into a simplified cloud infrastructure, the vSphere Enterprise Plus is the right choice, offering the full range of vSphere features ensuring flexible and reliable IT services.
